Irish Fest High Nelly Ride (08/01/2026)

Get ready for a fun family trail ride or the open road ride (for the experienced rider) on Saturday, August 2nd.

The weekend pass is NOT included with your High Nelly registration, but you will receive a special online discounted code to purchase a fest pass for only $25 after your registration for the High Nelly is processed. This online discounted code will come in your confirmation email from the High Nelly committee.

You can pick up your High Nelly Packet the day of the race (Saturday, August 3rd) starting at 8 AM. That is when walk up registration will happen as well.

Or you can pick up your packet on Friday, August 2nd from 4:00-7:00 pm at Park Ave and Mulberry St near the Main Gate to the Iowa Irish Fest.

Other reminders:

Helmets are required for all riders on both routes
The High Nelly is Saturday, August 2nd starting at 9:00am.
Post ride beer is still on Irish Fest!
The ride will happen rain or shine. NO refunds will be given if a cancelled due to weather.
Children and young adults 15 and under gain free entrance to the fest so no weekend pass is required
We will once again be giving away a bicycle as well other prizes.
Prizes will be awarded for the best Irish costume.

CVC Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Ride (09/26/2026)

Correction: this corrects the previous communication. The Breast Cancer Awareness Ride is on September 27, 2025, 10:30am, hope to see you there!

Cedar Valley Cyclist’s (CVC) annual breast cancer awareness ride will be Saturday, September 27th. Registration starts at 10:30am at the Waterloo Singlespeed, 325 Commercial Commercial Street. Suggested donation for the ride is $25 with proceeds going to the Beyond Pink Team who locally support women with Breast Cancer.

The ride will follow the Cedar Valley Nature Trail to Gilbertville and back with a stop at the Dew Drop Inn, about 21 miles. Then we will socialize at Anton's Garden for Oktoberfest.

Ride organizers include CVC board members Gretchen Harken who is a 37-year Breast Cancer Survivor and Mary Steffensmeier who was her dietitian during her treatments. The ride will celebrate survival, friendship, cycling and prevention. Costumes are welcome. For more information contact mary@ridecvc.org or Gert at Gretchen@RideCVC.org.

Online registration is available (but not necessary) through the event link with all proceeds going to Beyond Pink Team.

Cranksgiving (11/14/2026)

Cranksgiving is a food drive on two wheels. Part bike ride, part food drive, part scavenger hunt, it has been held annually in Cedar Falls since 2009 and is Iowa longest running Cranksgiving celebration. Bring a bike, a bag, a lock, and about $15-$20 to buy food. All of the items collected at stores will benefit the Northeast Iowa Foodbank and Cedar Bend Humane Society. Every year, the event helps provide hundreds of needy families with a wealth of food during the week of Thanksgiving.

The Holiday Lights Ride is a tour of the Cedar Valley's best holiday lights display. Light up your bikes, put on some warm clothes and prepare for amazement. See you on at Overman Park (Cedar Falls), 6:00pm.

Note to riders... the date is subject to change based on temperature and road conditions.
