CVC Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Ride

Cedar Valley Cyclist’s (CVC) annual breast cancer awareness ride will be Sunday Oct. 6 th . Registration starts at 12:30 at the Waterloo Singlespeed, 325 Commercial Commercial Street. The ride starts at 1pm. Suggested donation for the ride is $25 with proceeds going to the Beyond Pink Team who locally support women with Breast Cancer.

Ride will take the Hwy 63 trail with the 7 mile option turning around at the Greenbelt lake and the longer option of 18 miles going to Hudson. Fun, games, and prize registrations will be held at the lake.

The theme of the ride this year is “Treasure your Chest”. Ride organizers include CVC board members Gretchen Harken who is a 36-year Breast Cancer Survivor and Mary Steffensmeier who was her dietitian during her treatments. The ride will celebrate survival, friendship, cycling and prevention. The MercyOne Cancer Center and the Breast Care Clinic are offering education and prizes. Additional prizes from CVC sponsors: Hall Bicycle, Singlespeed Brewing and Hansen’s’ Dairy. Costumes are welcome. For more information contact mary@ridecvc.org or Gert at Gretchen@RideCVC.org.
